Challenge

For beer enthusiasts, there’s no way of knowing what beer will be on tap at your favorite bar. This startup came to me to create a platform for beer lovers to know exactly when and where the latest craft beer releases will be.

Personas / User Flows

MetaCraft puts the power of craft beer in the palm of your hand. There are two user groups for this website – bar/restaurant owners and beer lovers. I conducted interviews with both groups and compiled personas that acted as a springboard for User Stories and User Flows. Here are a few key findings:

• Bar owners want a way to monitor keg costs

• Bartender short on time, with lots to do

• Overall, bar tenders are average tech savvy

• Beer geeks want to know what beers are on tap and where

• Beer geeks are very tech savvy / active bloggers on social media

User Profiles

I always like to write the Personas and then think of a few takeaways for User Profiles to use as a springboard for the User Stories and wireframes. I keep these handy too when stakeholders come to me with features that they’d like to add to the website or app. It helps us envision how these features would be utilized and then based on that, I can create a “Features Prioritization” list.

Responsive Wireframes

After reviewing sketches with the client, I created a responsive homepage wireframe. Each placement of content ensured the target’s tasks at hand could be completed. Compiling these wireframes towards the beginning of the design phase, allowed for the client to see the hierarchy of information and elements without getting bogged down with the details

Hi-fi Wireframes, Prototyping

Now, it’s time to bring these wireframes to life adding fonts, photos, content and buttons. The visual tone is authentic, fun, and the color palette is inspired by a field of barely at sunset. After I compile all the final assets into the wireframe, I can prototype it and bring it into useabilty testing.  There were four tasks created for both the Beer Geeks and the Bartenders. Overall, everything went well with just a few minor adjustments. Three cheers for beer!
